Hook takes J.M Barrie's classic tale of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up, and shows us what might have happened if Peter did leave Neverland to grow up. In this film, he is now Peter Barring, played by Robin Willimas as a cutthroat businessman who, having forgotten about his past life, cannot seem to find time for his own children. It is not until his old foe, Captain Hook, portrayed by Dustin Hoffman, kidnaps his children that Peter must return to Neverland. There, with the help of his old friends Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys, Peter rediscovers his past and fights to save his children from Captain Hook's clutches.

This film was inspired by Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie

J.M. Barrie was a Scottish novelist and playwright who created the world of Neverland. He based the characters of Peter and the Lost Boys on a family of boys - George, John, Peter, Michael, and Nicholas - who lived next door to him. Barrie became their legal guardian following the deaths of their own parents. The character of Peter Pan actually appeared briefly in another novel by Barrie, The Little White Bird, but Barrie's publishers loved the charater so much that they insisted on stories that followed Peter and his friends. The traditional story of Peter Pan and the Darling family is based largely on the play entitled Peter Pan, Or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up.
