Amazing Scout Late-Night Adventures

Plan an unforgettable night of adventure for your troop with exclusive access to the entire museum from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and your option of one programs listed below.

$20 per scout. We require a minimum of 35 scouts.

Boy Scout Programs

Registration includes all materials, and museum exploration. As an added bonus, family members wishing to stay and explore the museum on their own can do so for $7.00 per person for the entire day.

$15 per scout. We require a minimum of 10 participants.

Innovative Inventors

During this hands-on program that takes place The Hive, our unique learning lab, scouts will delve into their imaginations to develop and design an invention that will help solve a problem in their community and meet requirements for the inventing merit badge. Scouts will be able to take home an inventor’s journal so that they can continue to engage their innovative thinking.

It’s Electric

Scouts investigate electricity while building circuits, exploring conductors and insulators, making a human circuit, and viewing a Van de Graaf presentation to meet requirements for the Electricity merit badge. Scouts will continue to explore circuitry by designing a light up badge in The Hive, Amazement Square’s unique learning lab.

Native American Cultures

Set in our Native American Gallery, scouts will explore Monacan, Lakota, and Pueblo villages to learn about how the environment shaped their cultures in the areas of architecture, food, and daily life. Next, move The Hive to create an authentic model of a dwelling used by a Native American tribe to meet requirements for the Indian Lore merit badge.

Planetarium: Exploring the Universe

Size up space in our unique planetarium as we explore the patterns in the night sky, study the phases of the moon, and take a tour of our solar system. It’s an out of this world experience!

Weather Watchers

Scouts will take journey as a water droplet exploring the water cycle, cloud types, weather instruments and watersheds. Students will also participate in a live water cycle at our James River Exhibition. Scouts will also construct an anemometer in The Hive, Amazement Square’s unique learning lab, to meet requirements for the Weather merit badge.

Girl Scout Programs

Badge Programs

Brownie, Junior, and Cadette troops can enjoy a fun-filled day at Amazement Square and earn a badge. Our badge programs include hands-on activities, museum exploration, and exciting projects that will guide the troops in completing their badge.

Registration is $15.00 per Girl Scout and includes all materials, awards, and museum exploration. Each badge will take approximately 1 hour to complete, with museum exploration time available after. We require a minimum of 10 participants. As an added bonus, family members wishing to stay and explore the museum on their own can do so for $7.00 per person for the entire day.

Innovation Badge

Brownies, become an inventor in this badge program that focuses on inventing a machine that will help serve their community!
Juniors, think like a product designer during this badge program and use their innovation to be an agent of change in the community!
Cadettes, use their innovation and creativity to develop a product in this badge program and learn what it takes to turn a great idea into a business!

Artist Badge

Brownies, learn to paint your inner self in this badge program that focuses on expressing your individuality!
Juniors, discover new techniques to draw a self-portrait that reflects what is unique about you!
Cadettes, delve into the world of comics and tell a visual story of your alternate persona!

 

Journey Programs

Girl Scout Troops can schedule a fun-filled journey day through Amazement Square. We offer Brownie and Junior programs that will include hands-on activities, museum exploration, snack, and exciting projects that will guide the troops in completing an entire journey.

Registration is $35.00 per Girl Scout and includes all materials, awards, and a snack. Each journey will take approximately 2 hours to complete, with museum exploration time available after. We require a minimum of 10 participants. As an added bonus, family members wishing to stay and explore the museum on their own can do so for $7.00 per person for the entire day.

It’s Your Planet – Love It! Journey

Brownies can complete their It’s Your Planet-Love It! Journey, by earning all four of the WOW! Wonders of Water awards through participation in various water-related activities that will teach about water pollution, the water cycle, and how we can become eco-friendly citizens.

It’s Your World – Change It! Journey

Juniors can complete their It’s Your World- Change It! Journey by earning all three of the Agents of Change awards. Throughout this journey girls will take a look at themselves and women of the past to discover the difference one person can make. The girls will also go through various activities to demonstrate how they can change the world by working together, including working as a team to build the Little Habitat House in Amazement Square.
